PUNXSUTAWNEY — The Curwensville Golden Tide wrestling team opened their 2021 season on the road Monday night when the traveled to Punxsutawney to face the Chucks.
Facing a 30-18 deficit with three bouts to go, the host Chucks ran off 15 unanswered points to claim a 33-30 victory.
Only seven out of the 13 weight classes saw a match take place, with Curwensville going 2-5 in those matches. The Tide’s Zach Shaffer picked up a fall at 138 pounds and his teammate Duane Brady at 285 also picked up a fall.
Picking up forfeits for the Tide were Jake Carfley at 113, Nick Feggert at 126, and Chris Feggert at 132. There was no match contested at 120.
Next up for the Tide (0-1) will be the long trek to Sheffield Thursday night to face the Wolverines.
