HARRISBURG, Pa. – Gov. Tom Wolf has lifted his ban on spectators at high school sporting events, but tight restrictions on gatherings still remain.
All indoor events remain limited to 25 people and outdoor events no more than 250, with all players, coaches, officials and game personnel counting toward those numbers. Facilities may not have more that 50% capacity.
The gudiance from the state says: “All sports-related activities must adhere to the gathering limitations set forth by the Governor’s Plan for Phased Reopening and the facility as a whole may not exceed 50 percent of total occupancy otherwise permitted by law. All individuals present at the facility at which such activities are held count toward gathering limitations and must comply with face covering order and social distancing guidelines,”
Per recent trends, the decisions on how those 250 people are allocated will still be made by individual school districts.
The decision by Wolf comes on the heels of a bill that was to be voted on by the state legislature, proposed by Rep. Mike Reese (R-Westmoreland), that gives individual school districts the final decision regarding spectators.
