DOH: Over 860 New COVID-19 Cases in PA

HARRISBURG – While there are over 860 new cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) in Pennsylvania, there are no new cases in Clearfield County.

The Pennsylvania Department of Health has confirmed that as of 12 a.m., there are 866 new coronavirus cases, bringing the statewide total to 66,258.  The death toll is now 4,984.

According to data on the department’s Web site, Clearfield County has 33 total cases while 918 patients have tested negative for the virus.

All people are either in isolation at home or being treated at the hospital, state health officials say. County-specific information and a statewide map are available here.

“As counties move from red to yellow, we need all Pennsylvanians to continue to follow the social distancing and mitigation efforts in place,” Secretary of Health Dr. Rachel Levine said.

“We must continue to protect our most vulnerable Pennsylvanians, which includes our seniors, those with underlying health issues, our healthcare workers and our first responders.

“I am proud of the work that Pennsylvanians have done so far, but we cannot stop now, we must continue to take the necessary steps to protect ourselves from COVID-19.”

DOH data shows there are 312,743 patients who have tested negative state-wide to date. Of the patients who have tested positive, the age breakdown is as follows:

State health officials say that most of the hospitalized patients are aged 65 or older, and most of the deaths have occurred in patients 65 or older.   More Pennsylvania COVID-19 data is available here.

DOH data shows that in nursing and personal care homes, there are 14,291 resident cases of COVID-19 and 2,377 cases among employees for a total of 16,668 at 578 distinct facilities in 44 counties.

Out of the total deaths, state health officials say that 3,275 have occurred in residents from nursing or personal care facilities. A county breakdown can be found here.

It was also noted that approximately 4,969 of Pennsylvania’s total cases are in health care workers.

Non-life-sustaining businesses in the red phase are ordered to be closed and schools are closed statewide through the remainder of the academic year.

Currently, 49 counties are in the yellow phase of the governor’s system to gradually reopen Pennsylvania.
