CLEARFIELD – A few miscellaneous items of business were addressed at Clearfield Borough Council’s meeting Thursday night.

Gas and fuel bids were reopened. Only one bid was received, from J.J. Powell, which has been the supplier of gasoline and diesel for the borough for several years.

The prices, without tax, were given as variable and fixed rates. Council voted to accept the variable gas rate of $1.919 per gallon and the variable diesel rate of $2.259 per gallon.

Police Chief Vincent McGinnis reported that the department received a grant for aggressive driving and DUI patrols, which will allow the department to pay officers for additional hours on patrol.

Borough Operations Manager Leslie Stott noted that if anyone wants to take pictures of the buildings on Market Street adjacent to CNB Bank they should do so soon as the buildings will be demolished in the next couple of weeks.

Stott and Mayor Jim Schell also asked borough residents to consider volunteering for openings on several boards and committees including the planning commission, zoning hearing board, shade tree commission, joint board of appeals and Clearfield Municipal Authority.
