HARRISBURG – Six school districts in the 35th Senatorial District have been awarded Teacher in the Workplace grants to enable teachers to visit local employers and learn about new skills and industry trends that they can pass on to their students, according to Senator Wayne Langerholc Jr. (R-35), chairman of the Senate Education Committee.

Langerholc said the following school districts were each awarded $25,000, which will be used to help to better prepare students for careers, college and success after high school: Cambria Heights, Central Cambria, Greater Johnstown, Moshannon Valley, Penn Cambria and Purchase Line.

“This innovative program allows teachers to partner with business and industry to ensure that students are learning what they need to succeed in a changing workforce,” Langerholc said.

“I’m pleased that our area is benefitting from this funding, which promotes an important partnership between job-creators and future employees.”

The Teacher in the Workplace grants are administered by the Pennsylvania Departments of Education and Labor & Industry and funded through federal money.
