Bison’s Walker Blanks Beavers 8-0 With Two-Hitter

DUBOIS — Cade Walker authored a two-hit shutout, was one of four Clearfield Area High School players with a pair of safeties and drove in two runs as the Bison clinched a winning record with an 8-0 victory over DuBois at Showers Field Friday.

Walker spaced the two singles and two walks in holding the Beavers, a .300-hitting team, in check for his third complete game in four starts.

The junior left-hander struck out six in the 98-pitch outing for his fourth win that moved the Bison to 11-9.

Caullin Reed and Harrison Peacock also had two hits and two RBIs while Hayden Williams added two singles.

A trio of important two-out hits gave the Bison a comfortable 5-0 lead after four innings.

In the first frame, Myers doubled home Reed and, after Nate Barr scored on a passed ball, Walker made it a 3-0 getaway with his first single.

Reed clutched up for a two-run single in the fourth.

Clearfield chased Dayne Bauman with three more hits in the fifth, a single by Walker and a double by Peacock driving in runs.

A single by Peacock, two walks and a forceout by Barr produced the eighth run in the seventh inning.

The non-league loss dropped DuBois to 8-12.

Clearfield, the No. 3 seed, will return to Showers Field Thursday for a District 9 Class AAAA semifinal against No. 2 St. Marys at 6:30 p.m.
