Lady Tide’s Weber Is MVL’s Most Valuable Player Again

For the second year in a row, Curwensville Area High School senior Madi Weber was rewarded for her all-around play by being the Moshannon Valley Girls Basketball League head coaches’ choice for Most Valuable Player laurels.

The 5-11 guard poured in 460 points, a 21.0 average, to become the Lady Tide’s No. 2 all-time scorer with 1,309 points, trailing only the 1,525 total recorded by 2015 graduate Ciara Strickland.

Weber topped the 5-17 Lady Tide in scoring every game, failing to reach double figures only in the season opener, and posting 20 or more in 12 games with three of 30-plus points.

Six of her highest-scoring outputs came against MVL opponents as she averaged 24.5 points for eight games.

The four-year letterwinner also led the Lady Tide in rebounds with 166, assists and steals with 72.

Moshannon Valley senior Emma Kitko was selected to the All-MVL Team for the third consecutive season, while Black Damsel senior Chloe Blake was honored for the second time.

The other MVL All-Stars are senior Hailey Prestash of West Branch and sophomore Olivia Reese and freshman Kyla Campbell of Glendale.

The final MVL standings – Moshannon Valley 8-0, West Branch 5-3, Glendale 5-3, Curwensville 2-6, Harmony 0-8.
