Clearfield Borough Hears Details on Fire Department’s Open House

CLEARFIELD – During the committee meeting for Clearfield Borough Thursday night, council learned about an open house for the fire company and reviewed several items to be voted on next week.

The Clearfield Volunteer Fire Department will be holding an open house Saturday at the old Third Ward building on Park Street.

The fire department recently renovated the building and renamed is the CVFD Community Center.

The open house will be from 12 p.m. – 6 p.m. and there will be a bake sale and hot dogs with all the trimmings for sale. Information on rentals and reservations to rent the hall will be available to the public.

Some upcoming events in the borough this year include: the K9 5K sponsored by Clearfield County Career & Technology SkillsUSA students on April 6, the St. Francis Pony Trot on April 13, the Clearfield Revitalization Corp. Bloom and Berry Bash June 22, the CRC Pumpkin Run 5K and Fall Festival Oct. 12 and the Halloween parade Oct. 29.

The public works committee reviewed a recommendation for this year’s paving project, and chairman Brian Lytle asked to hold off until they could review the suggested streets and possibly make recommendations.

Council will also consider the spring clean-up schedule and also lawn care bids. Borough Operations Manager Leslie Stott said that while they did receive three bids, the street crew is looking at whether the projects, which include mowing and trimming for borough parks and properties, can be done in-house.
