Vikings Sail Past Golden Tide 60-39

FLINTON — Josh Potutschnig and Ryan Sinclair combined for 47 points to guide Glendale past visiting Curwensville 60-39 in a Moshannon Valley League boys basketball makeup game Saturday afternoon.

Three of Potutschnig’s seven field goals were three-pointers, and he sank eight of nine foul shots to total 25 points, three more than Sinclair.

Christian Bakaysa was the lone Golden Tide player in double figures with 15 points.

“They responded better from playing the night before than we did,” Curwensville coach Matt Wassil said. “We just didn’t have our legs, and it affected our ability to make shots.

“We weren’t mentally prepared as we needed to be and made too many mistakes. And they took advantage.”

The playoff-bound Vikings led by eight points after one quarter and were ahead 38-24 by intermission, thanks to 17 points from Potutschnig and 16 from Sinclair.

They widened the spread to 53-30 through three periods en route to finishing the regular season 14-8 with a 5-3 MVL record.

The Golden Tide dropped to 2-4 in the MVL and 3-16 overall.

Curwensville will end the season with three more home games next week, starting with Moshannon Valley in another MVL test Monday.
