State Rep. Matt Gabler (R-Clearfield/Elk) is reminding the men and women who serve and have served our country that his monthly veterans outreach event is coming up this Tuesday, Feb. 5, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at his DuBois office in Suite 10 of the DuBois Area Plaza, 1221 E. DuBois Ave.
“A representative from the Pennsylvania American Legion visits my office the first Tuesday of each month to answer veterans’ questions and let them know about programs for which they may be eligible,” Gabler said.
“You do not need to be an American Legion member to take advantage of this service.”
Gabler also noted veterans may find it more convenient to reach out to one of the following:
- Clearfield County Veterans’ Affairs, 212 E. Locust St., Clearfield, 814-765-2642
- Elk County Veterans’ Affairs, 300 Center St., Ridgway, 814-776-5370.
State Rep. Tommy Sankey (R-Clearfield/Cambria) offers a similar service to veterans who live in the 73rd Legislative District.
“It’s been great to see the veterans in our area already taking advantage of this service,” Sankey said. “We owe them a tremendous debt of gratitude for all they have done for us, and this is just one way we can begin to repay that debt.”
Each month, a representative from the American Legion visits Sankey’s district offices to answer individual questions about issues such as pensions, compensation, educational opportunities and health care.
The February outreach schedule is as follows:
- This Tuesday, Feb. 5 – Clearfield office, 315 E. Market St., Clearfield (10 a.m. to 2 p.m.).
- Tuesday, Feb. 19 – Hastings office, 264 Haida Ave., Hastings (10 a.m. to 2 p.m.).
Cambria County veterans may also receive assistance at the county veterans’ affairs office, located in the Cambria County Courthouse, 200 S. Center St., Ebensburg.
