LOCK HAVEN — The Clearfield Bison Junior Varsity football team defeated the Central Mountain Wildcats Monday night to up their season record to 2-1.

The Bison had to come back from behind twice to beat their hosts 16-12.

Central Mountain got on the scoreboard first after an interception set up their score, a 44-yard touchdown run. The PAT was unsuccessful, so the hosts took a 6-0 lead in to the second quarter.

The Bison tied the score on quarterback Matt Pallo’s 2-yard run, and then took an 8-6 lead after Pallo also scored the 2-point conversion.

After a scoreless third quarter, the Wildcats scored on a 12-yard pass to take a 12-8 lead. This time, Central Mountain was unsuccessful on the 2-point conversion, setting the stage for the second Bison comeback.

Clearfield took over on their own 3-yard line with 2:38 remaining in the game. During an eight-play 97 yard drive, Pallo connected with tight end Matt Bailor three times in a row, the last one a nine yard touchdown with 25 seconds left  to give the Bison the lead at 14-12.

Jason Plubell, who ran for 123 yards during the game, tacked on the 2-point conversion to set the final at 16-12.

Clearfield (2-1) will host the Bellefonte Red Raiders on Monday October 1 in the next game.
