Office of Rep. Matt Gabler Announces $623,000 in State Funding for Two Area Improvement Projects

HARRISBURG – The office of Rep. Matt Gabler has (R-Clearfield/Elk) announced that two improvement projects in the 75th Legislative District will benefit from more than $623,000 in state funding approved by the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) in Harrisburg on Tuesday.

DuBois received a $423,169 grant through the Pennsylvania Small Water and Sewer Program to rehabilitate the gate and screen houses for its water system located in Union Township, Clearfield County.

Both structures were constructed in the 1920’s and are critical components for distributing water to the city’s treatment plant.

They are experiencing age-related failures, including roof and window deterioration, inoperable gate and valve mechanisms and problematic screen-guide frames. The total project cost is $497,847.

St. Marys received a $200,000 grant through the Greenways, Trails and Recreation Program for Phase II development of a downtown walking park.

The project includes construction of a 7,065-square-foot sidewalk, 450 square feet of concrete bench slabs and completion of restrooms adjacent to the Depot Street Parking Garage.

It will also lay the groundwork for future phases involving electrical, storm sewer and waterline installation, along with the foundation for a pedestrian bridge. The total project cost is $375,560.

The Pennsylvania Small Water and Sewer Program offers grants for small water and sewer infrastructure projects and can be used to assist with the construction, improvement, expansion, or rehabilitation or repair of a water supply or sanitary sewer system.

The Greenways, Trails and Recreation Program offers grants for planning, acquisition, development, rehabilitation and repair of greenways, recreational trails, open space, parks and beautification projects. It is supported by the Marcellus Legacy Fund established by Act 13 of 2012.
