Johnsonburg Pays Back Lady Tide With 8-3 Victory

JOHNSONBURG – The Johnsonburg Area High School girls softball team got even with Curwensville Tuesday, defeating the Lady Tide 8-3 on the Ramettes’ home field.

The Lady Tide defeated the Ramettes the first time the two squads met, on April 23 in Curwensville, 3-2, in a game that went nine innings.

Johnsonburg and Curwensville each went scoreless the first two innings before the Lady Tide scored one run in the top of the third.

With two runs in the bottom half of the third the Ramettes took a 2-1 lead that they would keep the remainder of the game.

Scoring four more tallies in the bottom of the fourth did the trick for Johnsonburg as it extended the margin to 6-1.

Curwensville did manage two more runs in the top of the sixth, but Johnsonburg added a run in the fifth and one more in the sixth to gain the victory.

Sabrina Spencer and Lauren Tozer each had two hits for the Lady Tide, while Bailey Bloom slammed a double.

Johnsonburg got two hits from winning pitcher Maria Jones, Lindsey Kojancic, Michaela Herzing, Haylee Zimmerman and J. Bundy.

Amanda Williams had a triple for the Ramettes with Bundy banging a double.

The final regular season game of 2018 for Curwensville (11-8) is at home on Wednesday against DuBois Central Catholic at 4:15 pm. The Lady Cardinals are 15-1 so far this year and beat the Lady Tide in DuBois, early in May, 13-2.
