Moshannon Valley Takes Care Of Lady Tide 13-5

AMESVILLE – A Curwensville girls softball team road trip to play Moshannon Valley didn’t turn out on the positive side, as the Damsels defeated the Lady Tide in Moshannon Valley League (MVL) play Thursday afternoon, 13-5.

The Lady Tide did score the game’s first run in the top of the first inning but after that, it was pretty much all Moshannon Valley.

With 13 hits and 10 walks issued by Curwensville pitchers, Moshannon Valley scored its 13 runs in five of the six innings they were at the plate.

The big frame was the bottom of the second inning when the Damsels put up a five spot on the Tide.

Scoring three tallies in the fourth inning and two each in the fifth and sixth gave the Damsels the convincing victory.

Bailey Bloom had a big day for Curwensville, as the sophomore catcher had three hits and four RBI’s.

Junior second baseman Keisha Maines had two hits for the Lady Tide, while Abby Pentz smacked a triple.

For Moshannon Valley, Sidney Lewis had a monster day with three hits, which included a double, a triple and five runs batted in.

Elmira Ecklund chipped in with two hits of her own for the Damsels.

The Lady Tide (4-4) are home on Friday afternoon at 4:15 pm when they play Purchase Line. Curwensville won on the Lady Red Dragon’s home field on April 13, 6-2, in the first meeting between the two schools.
