DUBOIS – On Monday night, members of DuBois City Council debated about whether or not a Sandy Township property was legally permitted to have its entry and exit points onto city roads.
According to council, a proposed condo development would be located on a Sandy Township property, which is landlocked. However, it borders with Tower Lane, which is the city’s boundary along that stretch of the property.
Coldwell Banker Developac Realty requested for DuBois City to provide water for two condos that are to be developed. It would have Sandy Township service two sewer taps.
“To be honest, I do not know,” said City Solicitor Toni Cherry. Council then voted and approved for Cherry to further investigate the issue.
Engineer Chris Nasuti indicated that there were already four condos in a similar situation located on Tower Lane. However, Nasuti wasn’t sure what the process involved for those condos’ approval, which happened before his time.
“How would they even be able to sell a property like that?” asked Councilwoman Diane Bernardo regarding to it being sold while potentially not having legal access.
Nasuti said for purposes of information that a neighboring property is also in Sandy Township and has access to Tower Lane.
In other business, DuBois City officials will investigate the parking complaints on Overlook Drive.
It was noted that complaints were received because drivers are parking along both sides of the roadway. It was making passage more difficult for other drivers.
City Manager John “Herm” Suplizio said based upon a submitted photograph, a fire truck would not be able to pass through.
The issue will be put on the agenda for the next council meeting. There was a brief mention about limiting roadside parking.
