SNOW SHOE – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is alerting motorists to the closure of Interstate 80 eastbound and westbound rest areas near the Snow Shoe/147 exit in Centre County.
These are full closures with vehicles prohibited from entering the parking lots.
The closures are being made in cooperation with the Mountaintop Regional Water Authority, which has asked customers to conserve water.
The facilities will remain closed until further notice. PennDOT will issue an update as the rest areas are re-opened.
The next rest area available for motorists traveling westbound is in Jefferson County, near the Reynoldsville exit.
The next rest area available for motorists traveling eastbound is in Clinton County, about one mile east of the Jersey Shore exit at mile-marker 192.
Information on the rest area closures is posted on PennDOT’s permanent message boards.
The closure information will also be broadcast on the Highway Advisory Radio System at 1640 on the AM dial. PennDOT thanks I-80 travelers for their patience during these inconvenient closures.
