Ultimate Warrior Wrestling Tournament Preview

MORRISDALE – This weekend marks the third Annual Ultimate Warrior Tournament held by West Branch, and it is certainly hyping up to be a great time for fans of the sport. With 31 teams in the mix, including defending champion Altoona and plenty of other local teams, it’s sure to give everyone some matchups they’ve been looking forward to.

Though Clearfield won this tournament two years ago, they have only two seeded wrestlers in the top eight. Luke McGonigal (Senior, 20-0) will be competing for his third title, while Hunter Wright (Senior, 15-7), who was the 152 pound runner-up last year, was seeded sixth. Also looking to improve his performance from last year is Matt Ryan (Senior, 16-5), who placed sixth but was only seeded tenth this year.

The lineup has also shuffled around some, as you will see by scrolling down. Four of Clearfield’s wrestlers dropped down weight classes this weekend, and only 10 are scheduled to participate.

Wrestling is set to begin at 1:00 pm on Friday before finishing up around 8:45 pm. On Saturday morning, wrestling will resume at 9:00 am, and consolations finals, immediately followed by the finals, will begin around 3:00 pm.
