REYNOLDSVILLE – Eric Paul Lathrop, 33, (hometown not given), is facing charges of strangulation, simple assault and harassment.
State police at DuBois say the charges stem from an incident that occurred at 3:30 p.m. Monday at the Pinecrest Motel in Reynoldsville.
According to state police, Lathrop and the victim became involved in a verbal altercation over personal issues. He allegedly subdued the victim on a bed, putting his hands and forearm over her throat.
“[This] forced her to gasp for air.” She was able to get to her feet; however, Lathrop shoved her into a dresser and back onto the bed,” state police say.
State police observed injuries that were consistent with the victim’s report and appropriate for the charges.
Lathrop was taken into custody and put in the Jefferson County Jail. He was arraigned with bail being set at $20,000 straight.
Future court proceedings will be conducted through the office of Magisterial District Judge David Inzana.
