HYDE – This year’s Bison Duals marks an important milestone: an entire decade of hosting one of the best dual meet tournaments in the area, in a gym named after perhaps the greatest high school wrestling coach of all time, Arthur J. Weiss.
Sixteen teams will travel to Clearfield on Saturday to battle for the crown that has been worn by many prestigious teams, but no team more than twice. Of the teams participating, Clearfield won the first two tournaments (2009, 2010), General McLane has won twice (2013, 2015), and Montoursville (2016) and West Branch (2014) have each won one championship as well.
Other teams this year will include perennial local teams DuBois, Saint Marys, Port Allegheny, and Altoona. Also returning are James M Coughlin, Union City, Williamsport, Benton and Saegertown. New teams will be Freedom, Forest Hills, and Erie McDowell
Action in the four pools will begin at 8:15, with finals matches being wrestled at 6:15 and 7:30.
Clearfield is scheduled to wrestle Port Allegheny at 9:30, Altoona at 11:00, and Freedom at 2:30, all in the Arthur J. Weiss gymnasium.
