Moshannon Valley Girls Dump Lady Tide 62-32

CURWENSVILLE – Moshannon Valley junior guard Emma Kitko scorched the nets for a game high 26 points as the Damsels defeated the Lady Tide of Curwensville 62-32 in girls basketball action Tuesday night at Patton Hall in Curwensville.

The loss has Curwensville at 0-2 on the young season, while the Lady Damsels pick up win number one in its first contest of the year, which also was a Moshannon Valley League game.

Curwensville had one lead during the game, and it came without a Lady Tide player scoring a point.

On the opening tip-off won by Moshannon Valley the Lady Damsels made a lay-up. Unfortunately, Mo Valley put the ball in the Lady Tide basket and not their own.

But once, and quickly, the Damsels found the correct end of the floor on offense it was off to the races, outscoring Curwensville 18-5 in the first eight minutes thanks to 11 tallies from Kitko.

Moshannon Valley extended its lead to 33-13 at the break with a 15-8 second quarter showing.

The second 16 minutes proved no better for the Lady Tide as the Lady Damsels kept the offense rolling to win going away 62-32.

Moshannon Valley went only seven deep in the blowout as McKenzie McCoy hit for nine points and Alexis Knepp added eight to help out Kitko.

Junior Madison Weber once again paced the Lady Tide offense with 11 points.

A bright spot for the Tide was sophomore Briana Swindell coming off of the bench to score seven points.

The Damsels also won the junior varsity game, defeating the Lady Tide 42-21.

The Lady Tide are off until next Tuesday when they host Harmony in a varsity game only, starting at 6:30 pm.
