The American Red Cross is providing assistance in Clearfield, Indiana and Fayette counties following flash floods that resulted from last night’s and this morning’s heavy storms.

Red Cross volunteers are doing damage assessments in all three areas and are providing assistance as needed.

Dan Tobin, director of marketing and communications, detailed the specifics in each county.

Clearfield County

The Red Cross has opened a Reception Center at St. Basil the Great Church (183 Locust St.) for individuals who were evacuated due to flood waters in Coalport.

Disaster volunteers are currently in the community of Coalport and additional volunteers will be heading to Westover to provide clean-up kits and other relief supplies as needed.

Individuals who require Red Cross assistance in those communities should call 814-913-3022.

Indiana County

Red Cross teams have been out in Indiana Borough, White Township and Clymer, providing clean-up kits and other Red Cross assistance as needed.

People with flood damage in those communities should call 724-465-5678 and select option 0 to request Red Cross assistance.

Fayette County

A Red Cross team provided clean-up kits to residents in Fairchance who were impacted by basement flooding in that community.

One family, whose home received more significant damage, was provided with additional Red Cross services.

All American Red Cross disaster assistance is provided free of charge and is made possible by the voluntary donations of time and money from caring individuals and, in part, by contributions given through the United Way.

Over the past month, the Red Cross in Western Pennsylvania has assisted individuals impacted by localized flash flooding in Clearfield, Butler, Allegheny, Indiana, Westmoreland and Fayette counties.

You can help people affected by disasters such as these by making a donation to support American Red Cross Disaster Relief. Visit www.redcross.org or call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) to learn more.
