CLEARFIELD – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is alerting area motorists that lane restrictions will be in place on Route 879 in Shawville most of next week as completion work on the Trout Run Bridge takes place. The bridge is located on Route 879 just north of the Shawville Post Office.
From Monday, June 19 through Thursday, June 22, crews will be working to apply an epoxy surface treatment to the bridge. This is the final step in the project, which began in late 2015, with the bridge opening to full traffic in the fall of 2016.
While work takes place next week, an alternating traffic pattern will be enforced by flaggers in the roadway. Drivers should be alert for stopped or slowed traffic as they approach the bridge. Short travel delays may result from this activity.
Francis J. Palo Inc. of Clarion has been the contractor on this $2.5 million project. In mid-May, the bridge was named as the Private David Kyle McCracken Memorial Bridge.
