John E. Litzinger Jr., 70, of Carnwath died Monday June 12, 2017 at his residence after a lengthy illness.
Born March 15, 1947 in Clearfield, he was the son of John and Fay Lillian (Hunt) Litzinger.
Mr. Litzinger was a self-employed welder who had worked in the natural gas fields and at various coal companies in the area, including Hepburnia Coal Co.
He was a U.S. Marine Corp veteran of the Vietnam War and had received a Purple Heart. He was Roman Catholic by faith.
He was a former member of the Curwensville VFW Post 842 and the Curwensville L.O.O.M., Family Center No. 268. He was a great supporter of all veteran organizations.
On Feb. 3, 1973, he wed the former Sharon Irene Undercofler, who preceded him in death July 23, 2004.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Heather Litzinger; a granddaughter, Skylar Irene Litzinger; a sister, Carol Litzinger; and two brothers, Carl and Joseph Litzinger.
Surviving are a son, Jason Litzinger and his wife, Crystal of New Millport; a daughter, Nicole Hummel of Wellsboro; a step-son, Shawn Undercofler and his wife, Melissa of Clearfield; and a daughter-in-law, Jennie Engle of Grampian.
Also surviving are 10 grandchildren, Nicholas, Alex, Isaac, Riley, Lilly “Bunny” Litzinger, Zachery, Tyler and Kevin Undercofler, and Shaundra and Marquisha LaPointe; numerous great-grandchildren; a sister, Jean Ogden and her husband, Richard of Clearfield; a nephew, Joseph Litzinger and his wife, Sherry of Curwensville; and a cousin, Earl “Butch” Hunt of Curwensville.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the chapel of Fruit Hill Cemetery, New Millport, with the Rev. Father Matias Madera Quimno officiating. Burial will follow in the cemetery.
