CURWENSVILLE – For the second straight season the Curwensville Lady Tide high school basketball team will have a new head coach roaming the sidelines.
Jocelyn Bash was named the new coach for the Lady Tide this past off season and inherits a squad that returns six letter winners from a team that went 3-19 last year.
Letter winners back from last season for Bash are seniors Hannah Dixon, Christine Limbert and Nikki Wormuth along with Madison Olson and Mikayla Warren, both juniors, and sophomore Madison Weber.
Dixon is back after averaging 11 points per game followed by Limbert’s 8.2, and Madison Weber at 7.1 points per contest.
Limbert also gives the Lady Tide a strong inside presence both on offense and defense with very strong rebounding instincts.
Coach Bash recently elaborated on the current playing rotation of her first squad, saying, “As I begin my first year with these great girls, I am especially proud of the seniors and juniors for working together as we get to know each other. The seniors, Nikki Wormuth, Christine Limbert and Hannah Dixon will be joined by junior Mikayla Warren and Madison Weber, a sophomore, as our starting five. I expect to strengthen the bench with Madison McCracken and Madison Olson, along with sophomore Brittany Wagner. Tarah Jacobson, Morgan Warrick and Jordan Wells, all freshmen, with also assist off of the bench.”
Bash then spoke about the growth and leadership of this year’s Lady Tide team, “Each day this group is growing more cohesive, and I enjoy their positive spirit. The seniors bring great leadership to the team and have been a great resource for the newer players.”
In closing Bash commented, “I look forward to learning more about what this team can do together. Everyday we learn more about each other and the skills this team has. Coach Emily Warrick and I can’t wait to see what they can do, and we are glad to play a part.”
The Lady Tide open the 2016-17 campaign on the road Friday, traveling to Glendale to play the Lady Vikings. Curwensville lost both games last season to Glendale, 54-20 and 55-47.
