The GANT weekly reload gives readers a look back upon the most noteworthy stories of their work week. It contains the big headlines, as well as a few stories you might have missed. It might even include a story or two of the lighter side.
The GANT reload will be posted each weekend for your perusal. For most part, the reload will be filled with local headlines, but every now and again, a state, world or national story will make the list.
CLEARFIELD – Eleven young women will contend for the crown at the 28th annual Clearfield County Fair Queen competition. All of the contestants, but one, were in attendance for a banquet Sunday evening at the Expo II Building at the fairgrounds.
CLEARFIELD – Kid’s Day at the Clearfield County Fair was originally to feature the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (TMNT) as the free show at the main stage on Aug. 2.
CLEARFIELD – The trial got under way Monday in Clearfield County Court for one of the inmates allegedly involved in the April 28, 2015 riot at the State Correctional Institution at Houtzdale.
CLEARFIELD – An inmate who was an instigator in the violent assault on corrections officers and in the April 28, 2015 riot at the State Correctional Institution at Houtzdale pleaded guilty when he took the stand in his own defense Tuesday morning in Clearfield County Court.
LAWRENCE TOWNSHIP – Lock Haven University Clearfield Campus plans to develop a multi-use recreational and fitness trail network and outdoor education spaces on its 100 acres located in Lawrence Township.
CLEARFIELD – The Lawrence Township Supervisors reluctantly raised the sewer surcharge for residents from $7.75 to $8 per 1,000 gallons.
CLEARFIELD – Members of the Clearfield Municipal Authority board and its engineer once again addressed questions concerning the rate increase of $84 per quarter on customer bills.
HARRISBURG – Legislation authored by state Rep. Tommy Sankey (R-Clearfield/Cambria) that saves money and reduces “red tape” for Pennsylvania’s more than 400 scrap metal processors has been signed into law by Gov. Tom Wolf.
CLEARFIELD – Residents in Lawrence Township are reminded of smoke testing in the township planned for July 25 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
CLEARFIELD – Clearfield Borough police have filed criminal charges on James Leroy Baldwin, 52, of Clearfield for deceptive business practices, F3, at his local auto repairs shop.
CLEARFIELD – Faith-based organizations are continuing to help the victims of flooding in Clearfield Borough.
CLEARFIELD – Clearfield Borough has signed a contract to extend the Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program grant with the State Office of the Budget for the riverfront development project.
