The Bee Kind Winery amateur wine competition has expanded to include an amateur beer competition. Also, new this year are the old-time scarecrow and Christmas tree decorating contests.

The Bee Kind amateur wine/beer competition is open to any amateur winemaker or amateur brewer who is 21 years of age or older and who is a resident of Pennsylvania. Categories for the wine contest are red, white, fruit or mead. Also included is the winemaker bottle label contest.

Categories for the homemade beer contest are ale-light, ale-amber, ale-dark, lagers-light, lagers-dark and specialty brews (fruit, spices). An entry fee applies for the amateur wine/beer competition.

The scarecrow decorating contest includes youth (age 17 years and under) and adult (age 18 years and up) divisions. Scarecrows must not exceed four feet in width and six feet in height. The material must be natural and characteristic of a scarecrow.

Each entry will be judged on originality and authenticity to a traditional cornfield or garden-type scarecrow as seen on early farms.
