DUBOIS – Junk piling up in DuBois City became a topic of concern at Monday night’s council meeting.
Councilwoman Diane Bernardo asked about the river and a property in downtown DuBois. “Anything we can do about these shopping carts that end up in our creek?” asked Bernardo.
City Manager John “Herm” Suplizio said if the city’s staff members would be made aware they could send employees down to retrieve the shopping carts from the river.
Bernardo asked if Code Enforcement Officer Zac Lawhead was taking photos of the junk problem at area properties.
She brought attention to one property on Beaver Drive that she likened to a junkyard.
She noted it had been cleaned up some. However, she felt there was little effort to clean up and just a rearrangement of the piles.
Councilman Jim Aughenbaugh was absent from the meeting.
