Lady Tide Take Two From Sheffield, 5-0 And 12-0

SHEFFIELD – The Curwensville Lady Tide softball squad finally was able to take to the field on Wednesday afternoon, playing a doubleheader in Sheffield.

And it was a sweet road trip as Curwensville swept the Lady Wolverines, 5-0 in game one and another shutout in game two, 12-0.

Senior Rylee Young threw both shutouts for the Lady Tide, and in game one surrendered just two hits while striking out a dozen. And true to form, Young walked no one in either game.

Curwensville scored one run in the third, three in the fourth and added another tally in the seventh.

Young had three hits to pace the Tide offense, including a double.

Teghan Jacobson and Madison Bumbarger had two hits apiece for Curwensville.

GAME 2

The Lady Tide success continued right on into game two, a game shortened due to the mercy rule being enforced after four and half innings with Curwensville, the home team in game two, winning 12-0.

The Lady Tide utilized two big innings with five runs in the first and another six in the third.

A run in the bottom of the fourth was just extra icing as Curwensville banged out 15 hits in the nightcap which included four doubles and a triple.

Rylee Young, in this game, gave up three hits and struck out seven for the Lady Tide.

Curwensville cracked out six extra base hits with triples from Young and Kaylee Sedgwick and doubles from Hannah Dixon, Emily Miller, Haley McGarry and Kaylee Harnett.

Miller also added four RBI’s with two hits overall.

Also picking up two hits for Curwensville were Dixon, Young, Sedgwick, Chloe Tubbs and Madison Bumbarger.
