ERIE — Seven Clearfield wrestlers will participate in the Pennsylvania Junior Wrestling (PJW) State Tournament, which will take place at the Erie Insurance Arena on Friday April 1 and Saturday April 2.
The seven wrestlers qualified for the state tourney with their first or second place finish on March 19 at the Area V Tourney, which was held at Clarion University.
Matthew Rowles and Xavier Lutz-Glace, in the 8 and under 45 pounds and 50 pounds respectively, will receive opening round byes as Area V champions.
Also in the 8 and under will be Brady Collins at 75 pounds. Despite being an area champ, Collins will have a first round match with the Area III runner-up, Cole Short from Latrobe.
Will Domico, Area V runner-up, will be the lone Clearfield entrant in the 9 & 10 year old division and will face the Area XI champion, Tyler Kasak from Central Bucks East.
Three wrestlers will compete for Clearfield in the 11 & 12’s.
Area champion Oliver Billotte will receive a bye at 145 pounds.
Runners-up Nolan Barr (85 pounds) will meet the Area II runner-up, Noah Teeter from Forest Hills and Mark McGonigal (100 pounds) will face off with the Area VI runner-up, Layne Reeher of Meadville.
