The GANT weekly reload gives readers a look back upon the most noteworthy stories of their work week. It contains the big headlines, as well as a few stories you might have missed. It might even include a story or two of the lighter side.
The GANT reload will be posted each weekend for your perusal. For most part, the reload will be filled with local headlines, but every now and again, a state, world or national story will make the list.
DUBOIS – Two people from Georgia accused of having drugs in a local hotel room waived their rights to a preliminary hearing Friday during Centralized Court in District Judge Patrick Ford’s office.
CLEARFIELD – The bail for a Pittsburgh woman charged for her involvement with a drug ring was revoked in Clearfield County Court.
LAWRENCE TOWNSHIP – The cause of a Lawrence Township fire remains unknown at this time, reported the state police at Clearfield.
JAY TOWNSHIP – A 22-year-old Weedville woman, Rosalind A. Gursky, has been jailed after an alleged stabbing incident in Jay Township, reported the state police at Ridgway.
HARRISBURG – On Monday the House voted on the five non-preferred appropriation bills that would fund Penn State, University of Pittsburgh, Temple, Lincoln University and the University of Pennsylvania Veterinary School.
Donald “Chip” Pugh didn’t like the mugshot the cops posted of him online.
PHILIPSBURG – While investigating the illegal distribution of controlled substances between March of 2014 and March of 2015, members of the North Central Strike Force Unit allegedly found numerous pornographic photos and videos of children on a cellular phone belonging to Kevin T. Aitken, 38.
WINSLOW TOWNSHIP – A 35-year-old Reynoldsville man, John J. Vickers III, is facing drug- and firearm-related charges, reported state police at DuBois.
CLEARFIELD – Clearfield County District Attorney William A. Shaw Jr. has announced the capture of a wanted fugitive.
DUBOIS – Plans for a new CVS Pharmacy location were presented at Monday night’s DuBois City Council meeting.
CLEARFIELD – A pair of citizens voiced concerns over the sheriff’s plans to organize a volunteer posse during the public comment session at Tuesday’s Clearfield County Commissioners’ meeting.
Tractor-trailers and passengers seek refuge at Sapp Brothers Truck Stop in Clearfield Tuesday. With Interstate 80 closed from mile-marker 93 to 131, many motorists had no choice but to find a safe place to wait out the first major snow storm to hit the area this winter. So many trucks came to the truck stop that they completely filled the lot and some trucks had to park across the road in the lot of another business.
Ciara Meyer stood directly behind her father as he raised a .223-caliber rifle and pointed it at the chest of a constable who’d come to serve an eviction notice at their apartment.
The constable responded with a single shot.
CLEARFIELD – A motion to suppress evidence in the cases against a former Arizona man and a DuBois woman accused of selling drugs in a motel room was discussed in Clearfield County Court.
