The show-stopping ninth season finale of “The Voice” came down to the viewers.
And the winner is fan favorite Jordan Smith, the 22-year-old Kentuckian with an incredible range.
Smith’s talent was evident at the auditions. All of the NBC show’s celebrity judges wanted to coach him after they heard him sing the first time, but Smith picked Maroon 5 lead singer Adam Levine.
Emily Ann Roberts and J. Barrett Baber from Team Blake (Shelton) came in second place and third place, respectively. Jeffery Austin from Team Gwen (Stefani) came in fourth place
This season’s fourth judge, Pharrell Williams, missed out on having a singer in the final four.
Though the viewers chose the winner, the judges chose the initial competitors.
Smith’s win was all but sealed by his semifinal performance of Queen’s “Somebody to Love,” which had Levine jumping out of his seat.
Justin Bieber nearly stole the show finale with his performance of “Sorry,” which started out quietly with him at the piano and ended with a huge dance number. Other performers included Missy Elliott, Usher and Coldplay.
Country star Shelton and No Doubt lead singer Stefani, who both split from their spouses recently, made headlines with their romance during the season.
