WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson (PA-05) today voted in favor of legislation that would prevent federal funding from going to Planned Parenthood, in addition to supporting legislation that would protect babies born alive following an attempted abortion.
“Like so many other people across our region and the nation, I was shocked to watch the videos showing Planned Parenthood officials talk about selling the body parts of aborted babies, which is illegal. This is a matter of the law, even for those who do not share my view that life begins at conception.” Thompson said.
“There are many alternatives available in support of women’s health and taxpayer dollars should not subsidize organizations that act in such a callous manner,” Thompson added.
Thompson is a co-sponsor of H.R. 3134, the Defund Planned Parenthood Act of 2015. The second piece of legislation is H.R. 3504, the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which would place severe criminal penalties and a civil right of action in place to enforce the law when babies are born alive following an abortion attempt.
Both bills now move to the Senate for further consideration.
