GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. — Pitching for the first time in eight days, Chad Zurat of Clearfield experienced his toughest outing of the season for the Colorado Rockies Monday night.
The Billings Mustangs (10-12) got to him for eight hits and six runs, five earned, in four innings and went on to hang on for an 8-7 win in front of 2,981 fans at Suplizio Field.
The loss was the second in three decisions for Zurat, who struck out two, walked one and hit one.
Grand Junction is 13-11 and two games behind the Orem Owlz in the South Division of the Class A Short-Season Pioneer League.
In seven appearances, including five starts, Zurat has pitched 21-1/3 innings with a 3.80 earned run average.
He has allowed 28 hits and 15 runs, nine earned, with eight strikeouts, eight walks and two hit batsmen.
