Gabler to Host Event for Disabled and Senior Citizens

JOHNSONBURG – State Rep. Matt Gabler (R-Clearfield/Elk), along with representatives from Life and Independence for Today (LIFT), will host a Disability and Aging Resource Expo on July 23, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Johnsonburg Fire Hall, 99 Clarion Rd., Johnsonburg.

“A wide variety of service providers from across the state will be on hand for this event, which is a great opportunity for senior citizens and their families, as well as members of our community living with disabilities, to check out all that is available to them,” said Gabler.

“My staff and I, along with members of LIFT, are looking forward to the opportunity to spend time with the people in our area.”

LIFT was established in 1987 by people with disabilities who realized the need for such a service. In addition to providing independent living skills training, they can assist with advocacy issues and offer peer mentoring services.

“LIFT is based in St. Marys and covers a six-county area, so you can imagine the many different types of services that will be on display that day,” added Gabler.

Various types of health screenings will also be performed during the expo. Admission is free and lunch will be served.

Questions about this or any legislative issue should be directed to Gabler’s St. Marys office at 814- 781-6301 or LIFT at 814-781-3050.
