Dorothy Jean Smeal, 86, of Big Run died Friday, June 12, 2015 at the Mountain Laurel Nursing Home & Rehabilitation Center, Clearfield.
Born June 18, 1928 in Woodland, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd and Hazel Poorman Luzier.
Mrs. Smeal was a homemaker. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Bigler.
She loved to cook and insisted anyone who visited left full. She was a great role model and unwavering example of how to love and help every person with whom you cross paths.
Mrs. Smeal loved everyone and everyone loved her.
She married Willis A. Smeal on July 7, 1947 in Bigler. He preceded her in death on Feb. 28, 2009.
She is survived by two daughters, Helen J. Luzier and her husband, Jim of LeContes Mills and Joyce A. Campbell and her husband, Rodger of Punxsutawney and three sons, Edward A. Smeal and his wife, Lucy of Bloomfield, Leslie D. Smeal and his wife, Robin of Morrisdale and Gregory L. Smeal and his wife, Rene of Clearfield.
She is also survived by a sister, Donna McCracken of Clearfield; 15 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Smeal was preceded in death by two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two great-great-grandchildren; one son-in-law, Al Butler; one sister; and five brothers.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Strange & Weaver Funeral Home, Morrisdale, with Pastor Dennis McCracken officiating. Burial will be in the Bradford Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 12 p.m. – 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
