CLEARFIELD – Staff members at Visit Clearfield County (VCC) have announced the weekly events for May 29-June 4.

Ritz Theater, downtown Clearfield

The theater’s lobby opens at 6:30 p.m. You can grab some popcorn, even if you cannot attend the movie showings. For movies and show times, please call 814-765-5835.

Prices are $6 for adults and $4 for children (12 years and under) and senior citizens (60 years and older).

The box office opens at 7:30 p.m. and the first feature starts at dusk.

CCC Camp S-73 Tour, Parker Dam

Meet at 6 p.m. – Tyler Cabin

The Civilian Conservation Corps helped build Parker Dam State Park. Learn a little about how they lived while they were here and what projects they worked on that you can still see today. Although they were here only a short time, their legacy has spanned generations. Please be prepared for a short walk. Parker Dam State Park is located at 28 Fairview Rd., Penfield. Nature Nut – Monsters!, Parker Dam

Meet at 8:30 p.m. – Campground Amphitheater

Fridays are nutty this year. Watch John Acorn, the Nature Nut, in a series of video programs that are as entertaining as they are educational. This week’s episode is monsters. The Loch Ness monster, sasquatch and others have believers in them the world over. But, when we look closely at the evidence, are there still reasons to believe? Corner Concert

Shaw Park, downtown Clearfield

On Friday, May 29, the contemporary Christian rock group, “40 Days,” of Brookville will bring hard-hitting modern praise and worship to the Shaw Park to open the Corner Concert Series in downtown Clearfield.

Concerts are free to the public. However, a freewill offering will be collected to help support the Special Olympics of Clearfield County. It is the third year for the summer concert series.

Concerts will be held every Friday evening through the Labor Day weekend. Concerts will get under way at 7 p.m. and feature local performers. Attendees are invited to bring a lawn chair and enjoy live music.

The Shaw Park is located at the corner of East Market and Front streets across from the Joseph & Elizabeth Shaw Public Library in downtown Clearfield.

Shakespeare for My Father

Shakespeare for My Father by Lynn Redgrave and produced by Bea’s Performing Arts will be presented at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, May 29-30 at the Reitz Theater. Local actress, Mary Beth Geppert, undertakes Redgrave’s autobiographical full-length show as the youngest child of renowned Shakespearean actor, Sir Michael Redgrave. This one-woman show frolics through Shakespeare’s greatest characters with Lynn’s moving portrait of a child’s longing for the love of her charismatic actor father.  The Reitz Theater is located at 36 E. Touch A Truck Day

Clearfield Driving Park

The Kiwanis’ “Touch A Truck Day” will be held May 30 from 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. at the Clearfield County Fairgrounds.

Vehicles will be displayed from the Clearfield Borough fire, police and maintenance departments.

Also, there will be vehicles displayed from Tibbens Auto, Northwest Bank, Cleveland Brothers Equipment Co., Randy Sterling Trucking, Hunter Peterbilt and Visit Clearfield County.

Tyler Cabin History, Parker Dam

Meet at 3 p.m. – Tyler Cabin.

It is one of the oldest structures in the park, even once surviving a direct hit from a F4 tornado. Learn more about the history of the now-named “Tyler” Cabin and hear from eyewitnesses to the massive storm that tried to destroy it. Trail of New Giants, Parker Dam

Meet at 5:30 p.m. – Lou and Helen Adams CCC Museum

Come hike one of the park’s most scenic trails, one that was very different 30 years ago. New giants have begun to replace the old giants and signs of a catastrophic event still abound on the forest floor. Learn about this destructive occurrence and see for yourself how nature can work to heal itself. On the Hunt for Tornadoes, Parker Dam

Moshannon Tornado – 30th Anniversary, Parker Dam
