Man Accused of Stealing Change from Vehicles

CLEARFIELD – A 58-year-old Clearfield man, Steve William Pittman, has been accused of stealing change from vehicles, reported the Clearfield Borough police.

Police received a report at 11:03 a.m. Friday about a male who was allegedly entering and removing items from vehicles parked in a private lot behind Bennett & Houser Funeral Home at the intersection of Temple Avenue and Church Street.

A witness followed the male suspect while giving directions regarding his location to the 9-1-1 operator, police said.  The male was stopped by police at the intersection of Temple Avenue and East Cherry Street and identified as Pittman.

Pittman admitted to entering two vehicles and stealing change, police said. Upon further investigation, police identified three owners who reported having change stolen from their vehicles.

Pittman was arrested and arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Richard Ireland. His bail was set at $5,000.  Pittman was also arrested for breaking and entering vehicles on Jan. 21 in a parking lot on East Cherry and Third streets.
