CLEARFIELD – After a long time without drama productions, the Clearfield Area Junior-Senior High School is once again offering students the creative outlet for theatrical performances in 2014-15, beginning with the 1937 Pulitzer Prize-winning comedic play, “You Can’t Take It With You.”
The presentation of the George S. Kaufman and Moss Hart play will be held Thursday, Friday and Saturday, beginning at 7 p.m. in the CAJSHS Auditorium. All tickets are available at the door for $5, while children 5 years and under will be admitted free.
The run time is approximately two hours and 15 minutes with one 15-minute intermission. The play is directed by Stephen Switala and Lewis Duttry.
This classic comedy about family, love and what really matters in life follows the adventures of the Sycamore family, a collection of cheerful and eccentric (yet lovable) incompetents.
Into this whirlwind of activity comes Tony Kirby, Alice Sycamore’s boyfriend, the son of her boss and the epitome of normalcy and success in the business world.
Tony is amused by Alice’s family and loves Alice in spite of the craziness in her household. Despite the differences between the two families, Alice and Tony are soon engaged and a dinner party is planned for Tony’s parents at the Sycamore home.
However, as with most things in this wacky family, things don’t go exactly as planned.
The talented cast members of “You Can’t Take It With You” are: Penelope “Penny” Sycamore, Sarah Aycock; Grandpa Martin Vanderhof, Josh Serena; Alice Sycamore, Rachel Duke; Paul Sycamore, Spencer Kisamore; Essie Carmichael, Alaina Shaffer; Ed Carmichael, Dakota Reffett; Edward DePinna, Shane Pritchard; Tony Kirby, Dalton Condon; Anthony Kirby Sr., Aaron Aycock; Miriam Kirby, Sandra Knepp; Boris Kolenkhov, Seth Caldwell; Wilbur C.
