PENNSYLVANIA – Average retail gasoline prices in Pennsylvania have fallen 6.6 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $2.51 per gallon yesterday, according to GasBuddy’s daily survey of 5,269 gas outlets in Pennsylvania.
You’ll likely see a lot more people sneezing and coughing this week. That’s because the flu continues to expand its reach across the nation.
HARRISBURG – Speaker-Designate Rep. Mike Turzai (R-Allegheny County) has announced the appointments of both Republican and Democratic committee chairmen for the 2015-16 Legislative Session, which begins Jan. 6.
CLEARFIELD – The Lawrence Township Supervisors held their reorganizational meeting Monday, which was followed by their regular meeting.
DUBOIS – Penn Highlands Healthcare recently announced changes in two of its surgical centers of excellence. New physicians have been added to both the general surgery and orthopedic surgery service lines at the DuBois location.
CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield Salvation Army raised $43,099.36 toward its Red Kettle goal of $45,000 for the 2014 Christmas season.
Major Sharon Harford shared, “Although we are approximately $2,000 short of our goal, we are still very happy with the funds we’ve raised. I appreciate all of the hard work that everyone put into helping us in our fundraising effort.

DUBOIS – Trooper Bradley Wilson, who was shot in the line of duty in September of 2013 and who was subsequently paralyzed, has regained some of his mobile freedom.
HARRISBURG – State Rep. Matt Gabler (R-Clearfield/Elk) was among members of the state House to be officially sworn into office Tuesday to serve in the General Assembly for the 2015-16 session.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson (PA-5) has issued the following statement upon being sworn in as the U.S. Representative for Pennsylvania’s 5th District in the 114th Congress.
CLEARFIELD – Both the Clearfield County Salary Board and the Board of Commissioners reorganized for 2015 on Tuesday.
WOODWARD TOWNSHIP – State police at Clearfield are investigating an alleged burglary incident at B&B Major Auto Repair in Woodward Township.
HARRISBURG – State Rep. Tommy Sankey (R-Clearfield/Cambria) was sworn in to office Tuesday in Harrisburg, in preparation for the 2015-16 state House session. Sankey, who represents the 73rd Legislative District, is entering his second term in office.
DUBOIS – A Monday morning fire at the abandoned Gibbys Warehouse building, located at 17 N. Franklin St., DuBois, remains under investigation, reported the state police at DuBois.
CLEARFIELD – The Sons of the American Legion have initiated two projects in DuBois, shared SAL member Barry Abbott at Tuesday’s commissioners’ meeting.
HARRISBURG – The Pennsylvania Department of Human Services (DHS) has announced the launch of Child Welfare Information Solution (CWIS) at an event in Camp Hill. CWIS is a state-of-the-art, case management system that allows for real-time electronic sharing of state and county information critical to administering the child welfare program.
CLEARFIELD – A 30-year-old Mahaffey man accused of simple assault waived his right to a preliminary hearing during Centralized Court on Wednesday at the Clearfield County Jail.
Daniel Wayne Wetzel, 30, of Mahaffey has been charged with simple assault, criminal mischief and harassment. His bail has been set at $25,000 unsecured.
CLEARFIELD – At last night’s Clearfield Borough committee meeting, Operations Manager Leslie Stott reported that the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation had opened bids Thursday morning for the Clearfield Streetscape project.
