CLEARFIELD – At last night’s Clearfield Borough committee meeting, Operations Manager Leslie Stott reported that the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation had opened bids Thursday morning for the Clearfield Streetscape project.

The lowest bidder was M&B Services LLC, Clarion, for $2,767,251.40, Stott said. She added that Engineer Todd Banks of Stiffler, McGraw & Associates will be present at next week’s regular council meeting with a full report on the project.

Police Chief Vincent McGinnis reported receiving notice of resignation from part-time Officer Joe Witherite, effective Jan. 22.

McGinnis introduced Adam Raybuck of Sigel with a recommendation that he be hired as a part-time officer.

The Public Safety Committee agreed to recommend Raybuck’s hire to council, pending official requirements.

McGinnis reported the department handled 470 incidents for December and a total of 5,924 incidents for 2014.

Street Department Leadman Todd Kling reported the street crew is trying to work as quickly as possible to treat roads for weather events, including attention to the alleys in downtown that are used regularly by pedestrians. Kling added that the crew is working on the department’s project list for 2015.

Stott noted that gas and diesel bids, if any are received will be opened at the council’s regular meeting next Thursday at 7 p.m.
