CLEARFIELD – Volunteers from the Clearfield Area United Way announced $16,190 in new campaign donations at a report luncheon recently at the St. Charles Café.
The new donations bring the total raised by the CAUW to $216,181.37, or 89 percent, of the $245,500 2014-15 goal. Funds raised help 24 local member agencies located throughout eastern, southern and central Clearfield County.
According to the CAUW, major givers included J.G. Food Warehouse; PPL Employees; Progressive Publishing and employees; Sheetz Inc.; Advanced Disposal; Catalano, Case, Catalano & Clark-Radzietta; Veterans of Foreign Wars, John Ferguson Post No. 842; First Commonwealth Bank and employees; State Employees Combined Appeal (SECA); Curwensville Area School District employees; Amon, Shimmel & Walsh and employees; Penn Highlands Clearfield employees; and Hess & Fisher Engineers.
“We are asking companies, residents, clubs, professionals [and] businesses – everyone in three-quarters of our county – to give. And, that will help United Way create opportunities for a better tomorrow in our communities,” explained Campaign Chair Mark Schultz.
He added that, “We hope they will look at all of the 24 member agencies, [which] we help day-in-day-out, because they reach infants to the elderly.”
Schultz stated he hopes that individuals will send in a tax deductible donation to the Clearfield Area United Way, 18 N. Second St., P.O. Box 1430, Clearfield, PA 16830.
The CAUW, Schultz stated, also has a Legacy Giving Program within its Named Fund for donors who want to ensure the United Way is “Leaving A Thumbprint” for the next 75 years. “We currently have a Challenge Grant that will give $2 for every $1 donated to it this year,” he stated.
