HARRISBURG – State Police Commissioner Frank Noonan has promoted Troy A. Sherwin, a native of Punxsutawney, Jefferson County, to lieutenant and assigned as the implementation manager, Bureau of Communications and Information Services. He most recently served as the TraCS program manager in the Bureau of Communications and Information Services.
Sherwin enlisted in the state police in 1989. Upon graduation from the academy, he was assigned to Troop B, Uniontown. As he progressed through the ranks, he served in Troop C, Troop N and the Bureau of Communications and Information Services. During his career, he served as a patrol unit member at Uniontown and Punxsutawney, a vice trooper at Punxsutawney, a crime corporal at Fern Ridge.
Sherwin was promoted to corporal in 1997 and to sergeant in 2008. He is a 1985 graduate of Punxsutawney Area Senior High School. Sherwin proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve from 1986 to 1994 and is a combat veteran of Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm.
Sherwin and his wife, Marlene, reside in West Hanover Township, Dauphin County, and have six children and three grandchildren.
