WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson (PA-5) issued the following statement after voting to support H.R. 5771, the Tax Increase Prevention Act:
“The House acted on a tax relief bill that will help Pennsylvanians meet everyday expenses and keep our economic recovery moving forward. While there are provisions within the package that I do not support, failing to act on this extension would inject uncertainty into the economy and threaten both jobs and family budgets.
“Moving forward, it is my hope the White House will work with Congress on comprehensive tax reform that simplifies the code, lowers rates, and encourages greater economic growth.”
H.R. 5771, which implements a one year extension of tax provisions that would otherwise expire and are essential to businesses, jobs, and families, passed the House with a bipartisan vote of 378-46.
