ALTOONA – Sheetz was named as one of the 2014 Best Places to Work in Pennsylvania for the 13th consecutive year.
The awards program began in 2000 and is sponsored by the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) and Team Pennsylvania Foundation.
The numeric list of winners will be announced on Dec. 4 at the Lancaster County Convention Center.
This statewide survey and awards program was designed to identify, recognize and honor the best places of employment in Pennsylvania, benefiting the state’s economy, workforce and businesses.
The 2014 Best Places to Work in Pennsylvania list is made up of 50 companies in the small/medium-sized list (25-250 U.S. employees) and 50 companies in the large sized list (251-plus U.S. employees). Sheetz has been named one of the Best Places to Work in Pennsylvania.
To be considered for participation, companies had to fulfill the following eligibility requirements:
- Be a for profit or not-for-profit business;
- Have at least 25 employees working in Pennsylvania;
- Be a publicly or privately held business;
- Have a facility in the state of Pennsylvania;
- Be in business a minimum of 1 year.
Companies from across the state entered the two-part process to determine the Best Places to Work in Pennsylvania.
The first part consisted of evaluating each nominated company’s workplace policies, practices, philosophies, systems and demographics. This part of the process was worth approximately 25 percent of the total evaluation.
The second part consisted of an employee survey to measure the employee experience. This part of the process was worth approximately 75 percent of the total evaluation.
The combined scores determined the top companies and the final ranking.
