CLEARFIELD – Clearfield Borough Police Chief Vince McGinnis welcomed a new department to the Pennsylvania Aggressive Driving Enforcement and Education Project on Thursday.
The Lawrence Township Police Department will begin participation in the program next month, which provides funds for additional patrols targeting aggressive drivers.
Lawrence Township is the fourth municipal department in Clearfield County to take part in the project, joining Clearfield Borough, DuBois City and Sandy Township.
The enforcement effort aims to reduce the number of aggressive-driving injuries and deaths on Pennsylvania’s roadways. Aggressive driving behaviors include speeding, running red lights and tailgating.
PADEEP is funded by part of PennDOT’s investment of federal funds from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
