CLEARFIELD – A Fall Pumpkin Dessert submitted from local home cook Kim Ellinger of Rockton was awarded Best of Show in GantDaily.com’s Taste of Home Recipe Contest.
The recipe contest was held in conjunction with the Taste of Home Cooking School. The cooking school is being held Sept. 20 at the Expo II Building at the Clearfield County Fairgrounds.
GantDaily.com selected these recipes from entries submitted by local home cooks. Recipe entries were received from Ellinger; Charmaine Rumsky of Pittsburgh but formerly of Clearfield, Brown Sugar Baked Wings and BBQ Pulled Pork Nachos; Kathleen Hillard of Clearfield, Peanut Butter Munchies; and Maryann DePasquale of Mineral Springs, Danish Pastry Rolls.
The Best of Show recipe will be featured on the front of the Taste of Home Cooking School program. However, all five recipes will be included in the program to be distributed at the event. The recipes will also be published on the Taste of Home page on GantDaily.com.
All five contest winners will receive two complimentary tickets to the Taste of Home Cooking School on Sept. 20. They will also receive a brand-new edition cookbook complimentary of Taste of Home.
Home cooks were able to submit up to two recipes with a color photograph for each. The contest theme was “good food, fun food and naughty food.” Home cooks were able to submit main entrees, creative sides, aesthetically-pleasing treats and “too good for your waistline” desserts.
Home cooks were encouraged to submit seasonal recipes. However, their accompanying photography was required to depict the appropriate season. No photographs of people were accepted as part of the recipe contest.
