Wingate — The Clearfield Area High School junior varsity football team posted their third shutout of the year on Monday night when they traveled to Wingate to take on Bald Eagle Area and won 18-0.
After a scoreless first quarter, the Bison ‘D’ put the visitors on top with a safety. Running back Corey Shimmel then provided a spark with his 43 yard touchdown run. The Josh Sorbera extra point put the score at 9-0. His 19 yard field goal with time running out in the half set the mark at 12-0.
Sorbera also had an interception in the second quarter to help preserve the shut out.Â
There was no scoring in the third stanza, but Shimmel tacked on another touchdown with his 33 yarder that set the final at 18-0 after the 2-point conversion failed. Curtis Daub recovered a BEA fumble in the fourth for the second Bison takeaway.
The Bison (7-0) will close out their season at the Bison Sports Complex next Monday when they host the Brockway Rovers.
