Police Report: Sandy Township

  • On Friday County Control reported receiving a call from a man who stated he was being held hostage in the old gas station by the Clarion Inn.  Upon investigation it was found that the man was in a residential facility in the Pittsburgh area.
  • A 70-year-old is being charged with reckless endangering, false imprisonment and harassment after parking a dump truck in front of the only entrance to his tenant’s apartment, as part of an ongoing dispute. 
  • A 74-year-old Curwensville woman turned into Kwik Fill Friday from South Brady Street and into the path of a vehicle driven by a 31-year-old Emporium woman.  The vehicles collided as a result, causing major damage to both.  A passenger and one of the drivers were taken to the DuBois Regional Medical Center for treatment of injuries.  The Curwensville woman was cited for the accident.
  • A 36-year-old Curwensville man was charged with careless driving Friday after he became frustrated with a traffic detour. He recklessly drove through the intersection and endangered the firefighters who were directing traffic.
  • PennDOT employees reported Friday that a male passenger who was in a maroon truck hauling a large black box trailer got out of the vehicle and assaulted a PennDOT employee who was directing traffic at a detour due to an accident.  The suspect vehicle eventually traveled north on state Route 255; however, police could not locate it.  The investigation is ongoing at this time.
  • On Friday police received a report about 10-15 vehicles that were parked in the Save A Lot parking lot, with a large group of people involved in a fight.  They were gone upon police arrival.
  • A 37-year-old Treasure Lake woman reported Saturday that her 5-year-old son and a friend were playing in their yard when an unknown man approached them. The man was wearing a black shirt with white numbers on it and white sports shorts with a stripe. The man allegedly came up to the boy, picked him up and then threw him on the ground before leaving.
  • A Jefferson Avenue man reported Saturday that someone entered his unlocked vehicle at his residence and took his wallet.
  • A 22-year-old Brockway woman reported Sunday that she was at Isabella’s when a 20-year-old DuBois woman followed her into the restroom and began assaulting her. The suspect was stopped by a friend but followed her to the parking lot and again started hitting her.  The investigation is ongoing at this time.
  • A Jefferson Avenue man reported Sunday that his 13-year-old daughter never came home from school on Friday.  She went to the football game but, he had not been heard from since.  The girl was later located in Sykesville at the park and returned home by police.
