Arlene M. Maines, 79, of Morrisdale died Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013 at the Clearfield Hospital. Born Sept. 11, 1933, she was the daughter of the late John James and Lois Marie (Thompson) Jones.
Mrs. Maines was a member of the Morrisdale United Methodist Church. She was a 1952 graduate of the Morris Township High School.
She worked for the Mountain Laurel Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in the housekeeping department for 33 years. She was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. She also used to bowl in leagues.
She was married to Anderson “Sonny” Maines on Jan. 9, 1954 in Wallaceton. He preceded her in death Feb. 20, 2006.
Mrs. Maines is survived by two daughters, Mary Jane Martell and her husband, Duane of Wallaceton and Rose Ann Schnarrs and her companion, Rodney Hoffman of Morrisdale and one son, Gary A. Maines and his wife, Gail of Grassflat.
Also surviving are sisters, Doris Sutton and her husband, Thomas and Eva Sankey, all of Morrisdale; a brother-in-law, Michael Dixon; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a great-grandchild, Dallas Stone; her sisters, Ida Jane Callahan, Ruth Cutler, Delores Dixon and an infant sister, Marjorie; her brothers, Josiah, Charles and James Jones; and a son-in-law, Gerald Schnarrs.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the chapel of the Strange & Weaver Funeral Service, Morrisdale, with the Pastor Tina Hawkins officiating. Burial will be in the Allport Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 9 a.m. until the hour of services Tuesday at the funeral home.
