Man Flown after Dirt Bike Accident

MORRIS TOWNSHIP – An 18-year-old Philipsburg man, Matthew N. Litz, was flown to the Altoona Hospital due to a head injury after a dirt bike accident that occurred Wednesday on state Route 53 in Morris Township, according to the state police at Clearfield.

Litz was traveling south when he lost control of his dirt bike while negotiating a left-hand bend in the roadway. His dirt bike traveled off the west shoulder of SR 53 and continued in a southern direction for approximately 72 feet, where it impacted a solid, cement post and overturned.

Litz was found about 12 feet east of the dirt bike. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. Litz was taken to a nearby location from which he was flown to the Altoona Hospital due to a head injury, state police said.

The investigation is continuing. State police were assisted at the scene by the Morris Township Volunteer Fire Company, Stat MedEvac and towing services.
